Engagement Assistant












Description



The Engagement Assistant has an overall responsibility of planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and implementing the resident’s daily engagement programs. The program shall be scheduled on a daily basis and shall make every effort to meet the comprehensive need and interests of all the residents. 



 



Responsibilities include and are not limited to:




  • Attend all mandatory in-services and on-going training.

  • Attend mandatory meetings.

  • Assist in planning a variety of engaging activity programs for all days of the week, including evenings, weekend and holidays.

  • Assist in planning activities that are appropriate to the needs of the residents, including small and large group programs, individual pursuits, sensory activities, clubs, special interests, spiritual and religious activities, one to one activities, community outings, etc.

  • Ensure there are copies of newsletters and course catalogs in resident common areas.

  • Distribute newsletters and course catalogs to residents, prospective residents and family members

  • Compile and maintain calendars, resources, entertainment, educational contacts, etc.

  • Get to know the residents through visitations, seeking input and suggestions on the type of classes and programs they enjoy.

  • Ensure that results are tallied and requests for new activities are responded to.

  • Be present and engaged at resident functions including all large and major events, and the start of new activities, to ensure success.

  • Responsible for set-up, invitations, flyers, follow-up/reminder phone calls, serving and clean up for

  • all programming functions and events.

  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating activity offerings..

  • Assist in scheduling movies, planning parties, and providing games and activities for residents.

  • Lead activities.

  • Record and maintain resident activity daily and chart progress notes.

  • Measure attendance in activities and special events.

  • Create and maintain a friendly atmosphere.

  • Coordinate with other departments as necessary.

  • Assist the Director of Engagement with the production of newsletter, calendar, bulletin boards, and weekly update sheets.

  • Accompany transportation of residents on outings.

  • Help coordinate transportation.

  • Make routine visits to residents’ rooms and offer assistance with crafts, projects, etc., when resident is unable or unwilling to participate in-group activity programs.

  • Ensure activity areas and storage units are organized and clean.

  • Assist in planning special occasions, such as birthdays and welcoming new residents.

  • Provide the residents with unmet needs the opportunity to attend community programs and outings.

  • Coordinates and schedules outsources entertainers and other related services of engagement.

  • Provide overall coordination in the implementation of residents' individual program plans

  • Maintain paperwork in a timely manner.

  • Participate and assist in departmental and projects.

  • Assist with coordination of seasonal, holiday and special event displays in lobby and other public areas of the community

  • Ensure that an on-going program of activities is in place which is designed to meet the interest and the physical, mental and psycho-social well-being of each resident, and the vision for brain and body fitness.

  • Assist in maintaining the inventory for program supplies and equipment.

  • Contribute timely and relevant input.

  • Ensure maintenance for all community room usage, by inside and outside groups.

  • Coordinate community room set-up requirements and ensure rooms are returned to their proper order after each scheduled use.

  • Encourage and integrate strength and balance training through body fitness programs.

  • Assist in the resident welcoming committee and housewarming events.

  • Plan and implement volunteer recruiting, retention and recognition programs.

  • Assist in educating and training staff members about Engagement in order for them to be able to perform the activities when coordinator is not there.

  • Assist in collecting materials to maintain for state requirements of volunteer and contract files.

  • Conduct and document team meetings for your department.

  • Respond to associate/resident/family requests in a timely and friendly manner

  • Maintain confidentiality with all associates, volunteers, resident and faculty member’s information.

  • Ensure compliance with all Raya’s Paradise policies and procedures.

  • Evaluate risks to community and residents’ when introducing and evaluating programs.

  • Develop and measure effectiveness of offerings

  • Participate in drills and in-services.

  • Report any unusual incidents to the Engagement Director, Executive Director and/or Administrator.

  • Enforces all regulations that apply towards, but not limited to, RCFE title 22, fire department codes and community policies.




Requirements




  • Ability to work flexible hours including and not limited to: weekends, evenings, holidays, and/or events

  • Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 and one (1) round of a booster

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must be authorized to work in the US

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Able to speak, read and write in English

  • First-Aid, CPR, and/or BLS certified, preferred but not required

  • One (1) year of experience in a similar position, with preferable senior-living or home-care, preferred

  • One (1) year of experience in customer service

  • Ability to follow basic instructions and carry out assignments independently

  • Ability to interface appropriately with other staff, residents and family members

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.

  • Great written, verbal and listening communication skills

  • Ability to work on a team as well as independently

  • Present a professional demeanor in-person

  • Outgoing personality

  • Physical Evaluation clearance

  • Drug Screen clearance

  • TB Test clearance & Health screening

  • Background Check clearance from FBI & DOJ

  • Smart phone (for schedule updates and communication)

  • Reliable transportation
